“Hold the view until there’s CO2” was a phrase coined by airway expert/anaesthetist/retrieval doc, Clare Hayes-Bradley during a Clinical Governance Day in 2019.

The aim of this maneuvre, which you try during your next intubation, is to ensure that in the unlikely event that the ETT was  originally misplaced, it can be rapidly moved into the correct position, without having find that perfect view again when the laryngoscope is reinserted.

It will require an airway assistant.

Hold the view of your structures until you see gas exchange through the ETT (fogging) and CO2 wave forms, and then you can remove the laryngoscope.
