Clinical Governance Days provide an opportunity to learn together every two weeks.
Education is achieved through:
Monthly Morbidity & Mortality Case Review
Monthly Airway Audit Case Review
Case Presentations
Clinical & non-clinical topics, aligned with the PHEM and DRTM curricula
Simulation
Workshops
Critical appraisal of medical literature
Location is in the Education Building at Bankstown Base
All NSW Health staff and clinical students are permitted to attend.
We welcome members of police, fire and rescue, and volunteer rescue services.
Other HEMS and Air Ambulance Bases with NSW Ambulance Hua Wei communications systems may participate through video link.
Our Clinical Governance Day Golden Rules are:
Case discussions must remain confidential
Our goal is to educate and improve, not criticise or humiliate
Case presenters are not interrupted until they have finished and invite questions
Dull PowerPoint lectures are banned – no bullet points!
Presenters are urged to:
(1) Provide pre-reading/listening/watching resources in order to ‘flip’ the classroom
(2) Use a quiz or interactive case discussions / workshop rather than didactic lecture
(3) Consider the following resources to make their talk more interesting:
Presentation tips for teachers (Never give a boring lecture again!)
Lectures Aren’t Just Boring, They’re Ineffective, Too, Study Finds
Not Another Boring Lecture: Engaging Learners with Active Learning Techniques
The reverse classroom: lectures on your own and homework with faculty.
Learning points from CGD (remember keeping clinical cases confidential and learning points broad) should be posted on the website for those who could not attend and to contribute to #FOAMed
Hi Cliff,
